Difficulty

Game difficulty varies by category

The types of difficulty are the same for every game. More in the main description doc

Differences in Difficulty

Compared to some other games, there are 2 differences: entering valid attempts and evaluating attempts.

Valid Attempt

For the EASY, MEDIUM, and HARD difficulties, any attempt of the selected length is valid. For the other difficulties, only those attempts that actually exist in our word database are considered valid.

    • Guessed word: NEW YORK
    • Attempt: GRAY WOLF (animal)
    • Evaluation:
      • EASY, MEDIUM, and HARD: valid attempt, because it is not checked whether the word belongs to the group
      • EXTREME, WIZARD, IMPOSSIBLE: invalid attempt, because the word belongs to the mammals category and not to the country category
  2. Category: Everything
    • Guessed word: NEW YORK
    • Attempt: GRAY WOLF (animal)
    • Evaluation:
      • EASY, MEDIUM, and HARD: valid attempt, because it is not checked whether the word belongs to the group
      • EXTREME, WIZARD, IMPOSSIBLE: valid attempt, because the word belongs to the group of categories being guessed. In this case, all categories
  3. Category: Everything
    • Guessed word: NEW YORK
    • Attempt: Red Moon
    • Evaluation:
      • EASY, MEDIUM, and HARD: valid attempt, because it is not checked whether the word belongs to the group
      • EXTREME, WIZARD, IMPOSSIBLE: invalid attempt, because although the word exists in the language, it is not in our database of words that can be guessed

Evaluation

For the EASY, MEDIUM, and HARD difficulties, each word is evaluated separately. For the other difficulties, characters for the entire name are evaluated.
